Destroyed presents Search for Gold (w/This Machine, Trackmeet, The Thunes, and Teenage Art Scene)
August 10th 2025 at Little Fernwood
1921 Fernwood Rd
DESTROYED CINEMA AND MUSIC is back with Avalon Fast feature Honeycomb. Shot on a shoestring budget with a cast and crew of friends, Honeycomb is a raw, dreamlike exploration of youth, autonomy, and the strange fragility of community. A true DIY triumph that premiered at Slamdance and made waves on the underground festival circuit, it blurs the line between fantasy and nightmare with eerie beauty. Local acts Cherry Venom, Dastard, Elbow Kiss will open the night with sets of noise, rock, punk, and ambient sounds.
Music first, followed by film

DESTROYED CINEMA AND MUSIC returns with the world-premiere of Victoria’s own “Search for Gold” directed by John Ledingham. After cutting his feature-length teeth with the concert film documentary The Promised End in a collaboration with JP Meldrum and Maxwell Patterson, Ledingham’s first solo-feature Search for Gold revels in Victoria’s twenty-something weirdos bumming around, drinking beers, reading Sisek, jamming, working dead-end jobs, and finding purpose in the Coffee News. Inspired equal parts by tree planting, Linklater’s Slacker, Motern Media, and the local music scene, Search for Gold film may very well iron out a template for a Victoria DIY film scene to-be.
Unlike previous events, we will start with the film, then John and some of the cast will do a Q&A moderated by JP & Nick, we’ll clear out some chairs, then the night will close out with some lively tunes

The Thunes
“Just 4 Fun loving guys and a hired gun cruisin’ on through this crazy little rainforest we now call home. Ever since their conception The Thunes have been keeping it loose playing whatever comes off the top. Their stylistic melting pot of musical chicken soup has quenched the hunger and warmed the souls of music lovers all over Vancouver island”. A jam-band, a psych band, a free form jazz band… some of the best live music around.
